More Than You Can Chew?

Ever bite off more than you can chew?

Yeah, me too.

About six months ago, after a long, exhausting one of many battles with the county, one of the officers looked at us and said, “Maybe you bit off more than you can chew. Maybe you should sell.”

Sell? SELL?! Does he even understand what that would mean for us? The countless hours, the out-of-pocket expenses, the endless hoops we’ve had to jump through just to develop this piece of land by code in their county. Does he get that every unexpected cost, every delayed approval, every “impact fee” tacked on at the end—those things could break someone? Could break us?

But here’s the thing: he wasn’t entirely wrong. We did bite off more than we could chew. We dove in headfirst not only with a vision for the collective, but with a solid business plan, however- even the best plans don’t always leave enough room for life’s surprises.

So what did that mean for us?

It meant quitting wasn’t an option. Giving up wasn’t on the table. It meant digging deeper—emotionally, mentally, financially. And here we are.

Passions still burning.

Hearts still rooted in the right place.

Souls aligned with the vision.

Heads… cloudy, sure—but resilient as ever.
